Code of Conduct
Version 2.3, September 2023
Enlightened Victoria (EV, EnlVic) is a group of Ingress Agents who enjoy working together for the common goal of keeping Victoria green. Our community nurtures new players, shares gear, and coordinates activities to keep the Resistance at bay.
EV is committed to ensuring that Ingress is a fun and positive experience for all players. Agents are reminded that being part of EV is a privilege, not a right. Accordingly, EV has developed this Code of Conduct by which our players should abide;
- when playing the game,
- in EV-sanctioned communities, and
- at events organised by EV or Niantic.
If you wish to remain a part of what EV has to offer, it is expected that you will abide by the following Code of Conduct.
- Follow Wheaton’s Law
In short - Don’t be a dick
- Niantic Trumps All
All EV Agents are expected to adhere to the requirements of Niantic’s Terms of Service and Niantic Player Guidelines. If you are not abiding by Niantic’s rules, you are not abiding by ours.
- Do not multi-account
Working within the limitation of your account requires skill and determination, and encourages coordination with others. It’s not fair to be operating more than one account yourself for any reason; plus it’s in Niantics ToS. Succeed with honour through fair play.
- Do not spoof
Ingress challenges us to go places and do things, spoofing ruins the fun for everyone, and it’s lame, and it’s in Niantic’s ToS.
- Do not collude
Colluding with Resistance Agents is against the spirit of the game. It is expected that all EV Agents will only collaborate with other Enlightened Agents, including, but not limited to, field or portal takedowns/flips, sharing gear, or sharing information pertaining to any EV activities or events. This does not apply to any official x-faction events.
- Show respect
Be considerate and show respect to all players, regardless of faction. All language and humour should be appropriate to a wide range of Agents. Ingress players may be as young as 13, so a "PG" level of content should be maintained in all public channels unless otherwise marked as NSFW. At EV or Niantic events, act appropriately considering those around you.
The following behaviour is not acceptable in any EV communities, forums or in-game comm.
- Personal attacks: hurtful, insulting, hostile, racial, sexual, homophobic, ageist, religious, political, ethnic, or other epithet comments.
- Engaging in a pattern of behaviour that constitutes harassment of a targeted person or persons, e.g., by making threats, repeated unsolicited contact, repeated personal attacks, etc.
- Taunting or baiting (Trolling): Deliberately pushing others to the point of breaching civility
- Spamming channels with off-topic posts, or swearing.
- Sharing/posting private information or posts without the original poster’s permission.
It should be noted that channels marked Not-Safe-For-Work (NSFW) may contain content not suitable for work environments or younger audiences. Even so, agents are reminded to use good judgement when posting, showing respect to other users.
Code of Conduct Violations
As EV is an unofficial group and not sponsored by Niantic, we are unable to remove agents from the game. While your membership of EV is optional, the Community’s participation with you is also optional.
Under normal circumstances, Code of Conduct violations may be cause for any of the below actions;
- Warning:
A public warning where other players will be informed of the transgression. This will be posted within the EV forum. A sole Mod may issue a warning, and subsequent violations may elicit a further warning or ban.
- Temporary Ban:
You will be suspended from all communication with EV, along with an announcement on what caused the ban. Suspension may be up to two weeks depending on the severity of the violation and must be approved by a 2/3 majority vote of available Mods.
- Permanent Ban:
You will be removed from all EV communities and communications. Must be approved by a 2/3 majority vote of available Mods. You may also be reported to Niantic. You may not apply for Readmission.
Constant low-level violations may result in a higher-order action being taken. More serious and flagrant violations may bypass the above and result in immediate bans and suspension.
Agreement
By posting in any Ingress or EV communities or forums, or attending Ingress or EV Events, you are agreeing to follow this Code of Conduct.
Any queries about the Code of Conduct should be directed to a Moderator of the EnlVIC Ingress Community.
